Message from Lloyd

Parents,

This is a quick note to emphasize the importance of all players being at the field one hour prior to the start of the game. When we get all of the players at the game site one hour prior to the game, that gives us 15-20 minutes to review the set-plays and other topics that were discussed in practice that week (this session will be called “Soccer Talk”).

In the Fall, most of our opponents will be older, bigger and more experienced (like Las Aztecas). Our strategy is to neutralize our opponent’s strengths by being smarter and playing well as a team. The perfect execution of Barcelona last Saturday is one of many reasons that we won our most recent game against Las Aztecas. “Barcelona” is the first of many set plays. We have an incredibly smart group of girls who are excited to learn more about the game of soccer. However, we need time to talk through, walk through and drill through the set plays, defensive and offensive assignments to make sure that everybody is on the same page.

The attached game report card was distributed and discussed at practice on Monday. If you have the time, please ask your daughter any (or all) of the questions listed below:

  1. What did she learn from the discussion of the game report card at practice?

  2. What did she learn about one aspect of the game (attack, counter attack, defense etc.)?

  3. Can she name one or more areas in which she improved her skills?

Next stop: ATHENS!!!!!
